Portugal national team coach Fernando Santos confirmed that he does not worry about the injury for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The superstar has been suffering from recurring injury problems in the last two months. He has his big chance to that he can do well on the international stage in the upcoming Euro 2016. Portugal are not even considered as underdogs to win the title. This is due to the poor international recording they have had in the last decade even when Ronaldo has taken the centrestage. For the Euro 2016, though, confidence will be on a high with Ronaldo just having won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
Aside from Ronaldo, players like Pepe have also won the tournament by playing a significant role. Santos took charge of the national team after poor results led to their early exit from the World Cup 2014. Ronaldo was especially disappointing at this tournament, but he blamed injuries as a reason for not performing well. Prior to the start of the Euro 2016, he already has an excuse up his sleeve. However, Ronaldo is not the type of person to shy away from winning titles. He will look to win the title and get a monkey off his back.
Ronaldo is yet to win a major honour with the national team, but he has frequently expressed his desire to end the drought in this regard. He is struggling in terms of international football just as Lionel Messi, which is strange considering that the two players are regarded as the best in the world. In the past, those who were considered as the best in the world dominated the international scene by winning World Cups or European Championships.“When I saw Cristiano complaining during the Villarreal game, I was worried. But we have been informed about his injury. He’ll be fine,” said Santos.
