Portugal captain and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he is looking to win the Euro 2012 with his national team.
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded to be one of the best players in the world, but he has failed to replicate his club form for the national team.
This has led to intense criticism from the fans, who have generally been an unhappy after he has been named as the captain of the national team. However, Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to put things right by winning the Euro 2012 this summer. The European Championships is one of the premier tournaments in the world and this will be the first major tournament for Portugal after the last edition.
This is because Portugal failed to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup after failing spectacularly in the qualification stages itself.
Hence, Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to prove that he is one of the best players in the world by lifting this major trophy. Even though Lionel Messi is regarded as one of the best players in the world, he’s not compared with Brazilian Pele because he is yet to win the World Cup or any other major tournament with Argentina. The same would apply for Cristiano Ronaldo as well.
“We have to have ambition, both in football and in life, to always be the best. We will go to Euro 2012 with the ambition to win. We know it will be difficult, but we have to think logically. The group stage will be difficult, but nothing is impossible. We have to believe we can win,” Cristiano Ronaldo said when asked about the chances for the Portuguese to win the Euro 2012. Portugal will be taking a strong squad that will include the likes of Raul Meireles, Nani, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
